Phuhlisa is a non-profit organisation that provides tutoring and mentorship support to learners in previously disadvantaged schools.  The programme has been established by young professionals who realised the need to uplift disadvantaged communities. 

 

Having completed our schooling in one of the disadvantaged communities of the Eastern Cape and making it despite the odds; we saw a need to make a difference through education.

 

Phuhlisa is a Xhosa word meaning ‘uplift’. This describes the core purpose of the project, which is to uplift learners from disadvantaged schools to better their lives.
